BiographyAnne Baxter was the granddaughter of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. She studied at the fine private schools and already was eleven, she began studying for the Russian actress Maria Ouspenskaya, who ran a famous acting school in New York. Baxter made Broadway debut, 13 years old, in Seen but Not Heard.
She made film debut in 1940th, she was a very talented actress, and unlike most other actresses, who essentially became famous for her looks, she relied instead on his charisma and competence.
Baxter was rewarded in 1946 with an Oscar for best supporting actress for her alcoholic portrayed in The sharp edge. In 1950 she was nominated for an Oscar for her role as the ambitious, calculating, career hungry young actress in All About Eve.
In 1961, she turned suddenly Hollywood her back, when she and her husband in her second marriage settled in one of the most isolated and primitive regions of Australia, which operated a cattle ranch. The couple divorced in 1968 and she then told about their experiences of this life in her book Intermission: A True Story, which was praised by literary critics.
In 1971, she had great success on Broadway in the play Applause based just on one of her blockbuster movies, All About Eve.
In the 1980s, she participated as a hotel owner in the popular TV series "Hotel".
