Eric Bryan Lindros is a former professional hockey player. He has played in the NHL clubs Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars. He has roots in Sweden, where his great-grandfather, Axel Lindros, emigrated from Bredaryd in Småland to Canada.

Lindros distinguished himself early as a great talent. When he played in junior leagues, he became known as a great scorer, but his size, 193 cm, was that he could physically dominate. Even when he met the players several years older than himself, he could unilaterally decide matches with his technique and his physical game. During three seasons in the junior league OHL, he made 97 goals and 119 assists in 95 games. He soon acquired a reputation for being "The Next One", the new Canadian superstar after Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

1998 total newspaper The Hockey News together a committee of 50 hockey experts made up of former NHL players, journalists, broadcasters, coaches and board members to make a list of the top 100 players in NHL history. Lindros ended up back then at No. 54 - for example, with only two Europeans before them, Jaromir Jagr and Jari Kurri - something that shows more of Lindros media status and gameplay potential than actual accomplishments.
