Gary Allan Herzberg, known professionally as Gary Allan, was born on December 5, 1967, in La Mirada, California, USA. He comes from a musically inclined family, as his dad, Harley, was a talented guitarist, and his mom, Mary, was likewise musically inclined. Gary Allan has two siblings, a sister named Tammie and a bro named Gregg. Allan's direct exposure to c and w began early, as his moms and dads were huge fans of the category.

Career Beginnings
Allan's love for music led him to pick up a guitar and begin singing at a young age. By age 13, he was already playing in honky-tonks with his daddy's band. His skill caught the attention of A&M Records, which provided a recording agreement to the then 15-year-old Allan. However, his parents turned down the deal, fearing the prospective pitfalls of popularity at such a young age.

After high school, Allan started working as a vehicle salesperson while playing gigs in Southern California. In 1993, he fulfilled a songwriter named Byron Hill, who assisted him produce a demo tape. The demo captured the attention of Decca Records, causing a recording agreement in 1996.

1996 - 2001: Early Successes
Gary Allan released his launching album, "Used Heart for Sale", in 1996, with the lead single, "Her Man", ending up being a struck on nation radio. The album would go on to achieve gold accreditation in the United States.

In 1998, Allan released his 2nd album, "It Would Be You". The title track became a hit single, but unfortunately, Decca Records closed its doors right after the release. Allan then signed with MCA Nashville, where he would launch "Smoke Rings in the Dark" in 1999. The album showcased Allan's signature blend of conventional country affects and edgy contemporary sound.

2001 - 2011: Continued Success and Personal Struggles
Allan launched his 4th album, "Alright Guy", in 2001. The album included popular singles like "Man to Man" and "The One". His following album, "See If I Care", was released in 2003 and featured chart-topping hits "Songs About Rain" and "Tough Little Boys".

Personal catastrophe struck Allan in 2004 when his better half, Angela, devoted suicide. Allan spent some time far from music to manage the loss but ultimately utilized his discomfort to sustain his songwriting. He released "Tough All Over" in 2005, an album filled with raw emotion, including the heart-wrenching homage to his late better half, "Best I Ever Had".

Allan continued to discover success in the late 2000s, launching "Living Hard" in 2007 and "Get Off on the Pain" in 2010. He continued to chart hits like "Watching Airplanes" and "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)".

2012 - Present: Recent Work
In 2013, Allan released his ninth studio album, "Set You Free", which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Ever since, Allan has actually been dealing with brand-new music and continues to visit and share his special mix of c and w with fans.

Personal Life
Allan wed his very first better half, Tracy Taylor, but they ultimately divorced. He then wed Angela Herzberg in 2001, however unfortunately, their marriage ended with Angela's suicide in 2004.

Allan has 3 children: a daughter called Dallas from his marriage to Tracy, and a child called Tanna and boy named Jake with Angela.
