George Lopez is an American comedian, actor and talk show host.

He is best known for starring in his own ABC sitcom produced called George Lopez. His stand-up comedy to take race and ethnic relations, including the Mexican-American culture. He is currently the host of talk show Lopez Tonight on channel TBS. Lopez who is Mexican-American, was born in Mission Hills, California. He was abandoned by his mother and father at birth, but was raised by her maternal grandmother, Benita Gutierrez, a factory worker, and ste-grandfather, Refugio Gutierrez, a construction worker. In 1993, Lopez married with Ann Serrano. The couple had a daughter, Maya Lopez.

Lopez has a genetic condition which causes his kidneys deteriorate. The doctors had told him in April 2004 that he was going to require an organ transplant, but he delayed the surgery until after having played finished the fourth season of the talk show as not to damage the 170 other people who worked on his program. In 2005 his wife Ann donated one of her kidneys to her husband. Transplant was successful.

He has his own charity with his wife. It's called The Ann & George Lopez Foundation. He has been awarded a Manny Mota Foundation Community Spirit Award and was honored by the Mayor of Los Angeles for his extensive efforts in fundraising that went to the earthquake victims in El Salvador and Guatemala. In February 2004, George awarded Artist of the Year and Humanitarian Award by Harvard University for this year. The award was presented by its president and dean for his artistic work and charitable endeavors.

Lopez has received numerous awards for his work and contributions to the Latin American community. In September 2004, George was honored with the "Spirit of Liberty Award" presented by People magazine. In August 2005, Time Magazine recognized George as one of "The 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America." The 27 september 2010, Lopez announced that he and his wife had decided to end the marriage and go different ways.
