Biography

Gregory "Greg" Efthimios Louganis is an American Olympic diver and author, best known for his four Olympic gold medals in diving.

16 years old, he participated in the Olympics 1976 in Montreal, where he won silver medal in high diving, surpassed only by the Italian Klaus Dibiasi. Two years later, after Dibiasi had retired, Louganis won his first world title in the same exercise.

Louganis was the favorite of gold in front of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, but because of the boycott, he could not line up. In 1982, Louganis won two World Cup titles and the Olympics 1984 in Los Angeles, he won double gold again (3m Springboard diving and 10 m high diving), with a clear margin ahead of the competition.

After two World Cup titles in 1986 he repeated the company from Los Angeles during the Olympic Games 1988 in Seoul.

Louganis won six gold medals in the Pan American Games, he won the 3 meter diving failure and 10 meters high diving 1979 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1983 in Caracas, Venezuela, 1987 in Indianapolis, USA.
