Biography

Hillary Scott is an American singer, member of the group Lady Antebellum. She is the daughter of country singer Linda Davis, and Charles Kelley, brother of pop singer Josh Kelley.

She grew up in Nashville and was raised around other artists and writers. Growing up, she despised being a musician, as it involves being away from home for long periods of time. Her first performance was in his first year in high school when she joined her mother Linda Davis on stage for a Christmas show at Opryland family. After the show, she was convinced to pursue a career in music.

After high school at Donelson Christian Academy, Scott worked with singer & songwriter Victoria Shaw and got some publicity, but could not get a contract with any major music studio. She auditioned for American Idol twice, but was rejected by judges in both cases. Then she met future band members Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood later. Kelley ran a bar in Nashville and had recognized him from his MySpace page where she had heard his music before. She decided it was good then asked if he wanted to play music with it. The trio got together to write some songs at first, but ended up forming Lady Antebellum. Scott says that itís better to be a part of Lady Antebellum than being a solo artist; it takes pressure off the stage.
