Biography

Ingrid Bergman is one of Sweden's most famous actors of all time, and is one of the few Scandinavians can rightly be called the Hollywood star. She was married three times, Petter Lindström (1937-1950), Roberto Rossellini (1950-1956) and Lars Schmidt (1957-1976).

Ingrid Bergman's parents died when she was young and she grew up with relatives. Acting career began with studies in Drama Tens student school, and during this time she had a small role in the film Munkbrogreven (1935). After about a dozen films in Sweden, she had contact with the United States and Hollywood producer David O. Selznick, who gave her film contract. Her first film in the Intermezzo, was a remake of a movie she had recorded with Gösta Ekman in Sweden.
One of her most famous films are Casablanca (1942), in which she starred with Humphrey Bogart. She has also had roles in Alfred Hitchcock's movies spellbound (1945) and Women's - Spy (1946).

In 1950 she met film director Roberto Rossellini. She became his mistress, and was also a role in his film Stromboli. Both were already married, and love affair was a media scandal that gave her some professional problems, with fewer role offers. It was also demonstrated outside cinemas showing her films and some theaters chose to boycott her. The couple had two daughters, twins Ingrid and Isabella, and son Robertino.

After a few films for Rossellini, films that were either artistic or financial success, was Ingrid Bergman again filming in Hollywood. With Anastasia (1956), she was again a bright star on the Hollywood sky. Then followed a series of Hollywood movies, until Ingmar Bergman in Höstsonaten (1978) gave her the opportunity to make a career best role performance. For his role as Greta Ohlsson in the movie Murder on the Orient Express (Murder at the Orient Express) in 1974 she received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Ingrid Bergman died on her birthday in 1982 after an illness.
