Biography

In 1946, when Prévert was 46 years old, a friend pressed a collection of poems Préverts, some of which had been printed in various periodicals, and was partly unpublished. The collection, entitled Paroles was immediately successful, and did Prévert to one of the most representative and influential French poets in the mid 1900's. Many of his poems are interpreted and performed by renowned artists, including Juliette Greco and Yves Montand.

Together with the writer Raymond Queneau and artist Marcel Duchamp, he was a member of the Rue du Château group.
