Biography

Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale was an American naval officer. He was one of the most highly decorated officers in the United States Navy's history. Stockdale led the air attack from the aircraft carrier USS "Ticonderoga" (CV-14) during the Tonkin incident in 1964. On a mission on the 9th september 1965 he was shot down over enemy territory in North Vietnam, where he was held as prisoner of war, as the most highly decorated naval officer. He received 26 personal combat decorations, including the Medal of Honor. In the late 1970s he was president of the Naval War College Naval War College. He is also remembered for being the party of independent Ross Perot VP candidate at presidential elections in 1992, where they got the 19.9% ​​of the vote.
