Biography

James Joseph "Jimmy" Chamberlin is an American musician, best known as former drummer for the rock band The Smashing Pumpkins.

Chamberlin played with The Smashing Pumpkins from its inception in 1988 until the U.S. tour for the album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness in July 1996 when he was fired. The reason for the dismissal was that he and Jonathan Melvoin, the group's then-touring keyboardist, took heroin one night and then Melvoin overdosed and died. This was a culmination of Chamberlin drug abuse, which has continued for a while.

After Chamberlin kicked out of The Smashing Pumpkins he put himself at weaning and in 1996 he joined the supergroup The Last Hard Men. The band consisted addition to Chamberlin by Kelley Deal of The Breeders, Jimmy Flemion of The Frogs and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. The Last Hard But, however, gave only gave out a disc.
1999 returned Chamberlin of The Smashing Pumpkins where he could play on their last two discs, Machina and Machina II before the band broke up in 2000. The following year he formed and Billy Corgan (also from The Smashing Pumpkins) band Zwan, but split after just two years. Later formed Chamberlin band The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex, which in 2004 released their debut album Life Begins Again on the label Sanctuary. In 2006 he made with Billy Corgan comeback with The Smashing Pumpkins as the only original members of the group. The band gave out 2007 album Zeitgeist. In March 2009, the Jimmy Chamberlin that he drop out of The Smashing Pumpkins to give everything for his own project The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex.

In early 2010 it was announced that Jimmy Chamberlin new bands Skysaw (recently renamed from This) has a new website up. The band is in addition to Chamberlin by Mike Reina and Anthony Pirog. Their first full length album will be released on Danger Bird Records on 21 June 2011.
