Samuel Langhorne Clemens, mostly know known under her literary pseudonym Mark Twain, was a famous and popular American humorist, author, journalist and lecturer. He is best known for his novels about Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, and author William Faulkner called Twain in his time as "the father of American literature." Besides novels he also wrote travelogues and socially critical articles about corruption and class distinctions of the time.

He was a close friend to President Ulysses S. Grant.
