Biography

Nicolas Cage is an American actor. He is of Italian and German origin, the son of August and Joy Coppola, and grandson of composer Carmine Coppola. He is Francis Ford Coppola and Talia Shires nephew.

When Cage's parents divorced in 1976, he moved to Beverly Hills with his father. He was partly High School with other celebrities like Slash from Guns N 'Roses and Lenny Kravitz.

Cage changed his name early on to try to build his own career rather than take advantage of his uncle's reputation. He chose the name "Cage" after the comic book hero Luke Cage, Power Man.

Cage had a small role in the heel to the ceiling in 1982, but most were cut away. His next notable roles were in films Rumble Fish and Valley Girl from 1983, and the latter was his breakthrough film.

Cage won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Goodbye Las Vegas (1995), in which he plays a role of a man who travels to Las Vegas to drink himself to death. He has developed a reputation in which he alternates between action movies, serious roles in dramas and as an actor in black comedies. He is known for living so much into their roles that he is affected by these too private. He is therefore at times be difficult to live with. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
