Biography

Peter Steele was the frontman, bassist and vocalist for the American gothic metal band Type O Negative.

Steele was born in Brooklyn, New York but he is of Polish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Russian origin. Steele started the band Fallout early 1980's. After the keyboardist left the band in 1986, Steele started the thrash metal band Carnivore. The band released two albums, and disbanded shortly after the album was released. Steele started the band Subzero, who a short time later renamed to Type O Negative.

Peter Steele's death was announced on Blabbermouth.net the 15 april 2010, the message came from Josh Silver, Type O Negative keyboardist.
