Biography

Philippe Perrin (born in Meknes, Morocco) is a French astronaut from the European Space Agency (ESA).

In 1989-1990. Philippe Perrin was one of four French pilots, selected by 30 July 1990 the National Center for Space Research (third set of CNES), and entered with them into the group, which gotovivilas to fly on the shuttle developed by the European " Hermes . " But soon the project was canceled, and in 1992 the astronauts sent to Star City ( Russia ). There they were examined, and training for 2 months in preparation for the future of Russian-French missions.

In July 1996 CNES announced that in accordance with a contract with NASA, F. Perrin, a candidate for the U.S. space shuttle flight, and in August sent it to NASA for training at the Johnson Space Center. After two years of training and tests he was qualified as a mission specialist, and Perrin was appointed to the department of space systems and control of astronauts.

In early 2001 , Philip Perrin was appointed to the crew of mission STS-111 and in May the same year began the immediate preparation for the flight.
