Biography

She was a Norwegian writer who received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928, "particularly for his powerful descriptions of life in the Nordic countries in the Middle Ages."

Due to its premarked attitude towards Adolf Hitler and Nazism, and its commitment to the Jewish fate, she had to escape from Norway after the invasion days in 1940. Northward through Gudbrandsdalen and bombed ┼ndalsnes, she came out on to Sweden with the help of the resistance movement in Mo i Rana. From Sweden, she traveled to the United States, where she was during the war tirelessly defended Norway and its allies in a number of articles and lectures.

Sigrid Undset wrote in Translation and is best known for his novels about life in the Scandinavian countries in the Middle Ages. Her best known work is the trilogy Kristin Lavransdatter (1920-1922).
