Biography

Thomas Edward Patrick "Tom" Brady, Jr. (born in San Mateo, California) is an American football player and quarterback for the team New England Patriots. He started playing as a young man, and led the University of Michigan to victory in the Orange Bowl in 1999.

Brady was selected by New England in the 6th round of the 2000 chart. He was initially a backup, but when the then-quarterback Drew Bledsoe was injured, he got a chance. He surpassed everyone's expectations, and led New England to the team's first Super Bowl victory in the 2001 season.

The following year New England was unable to get to the playoffs, but in the seasons 2003 and 2004, repeated the success from 2001 and won the Super Bowl both years. By then, New England won Super Bowl three times in 4 years, something only the Dallas Cowboys have managed before. In the 2007 season he led Patriots to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in seven years, but this time after winning all 18 games they had played earlier in the season. They could thus become the second undefeated team in NFL history after the Miami Dolphins managed the feat in 1972. The result was still at a loss to the New York Giants. Brady was also named to the NFL's best player this season after he set several records, among other things, he threw 50 touchdown passes, beating Peyton Mannings record of 49 from 2004. Tom Brady is still the starting quarterback for New England, and is considered one of the best in the NFL.
