The Main Characters
The primary characters are Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp), Glen Lantz (Johnny Depp in his film debut), Tina Gray (Amanda Wyss), and Rod Lane (Nick Corri). The group of good friends is tormented in their dreams by a grotesquely disfigured character named Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund).

The Nightmare Plot
In the film, Freddy Krueger is a child killer who had been eliminated by the cruel moms and dads of his victims. Now, he returns from the afterlife to eliminate the teens in their dreams, which prove deadly in real life. The plot reveals the terrible secret of their moms and dads, exposing that they was accountable for Freddy's death years back. Freddy then looks for revenge on their kids through his ability to enter their dreams and kill them.

Nightmare Encounters
Throughout the film, each adolescent experiences frightening encounters with Krueger in their dreams.
