Newly divorced lawyer Nathan Del Amico is shaken up after he meets a doctor who claims that he can sense when select people are about to die. Though he doesn't believe the doctor, events in Nathan's life slowly make him think he's not long for this world.

Introduction

Plot
The movie focuses on the life of a workaholic lawyer, Nathan Del Amico (played by Romain Duris), who is residing in New York. Nathan is dealing with the haunting memories of his past and dealing with his failing marriage; when he all of a sudden encounters an eccentric medical professional, Kay (portrayed by John Malkovich). Kay declares to have the unique capability to anticipate death. He tells Nathan that he is an "messenger" implied to help people concern terms with their death, which will occur in the near future. According to the physician, Nathan is one of those who are about to pass away.

Progression
Nathan doesn't think Kay initially, associating the doctor's assertions to misconception or a rip-off.
