The story centres on 2 of these elite bounty killers; Drifter (Matthew Marsden) and Mary Death (Christian Pitre). Each time they kill a business criminal, they bring their victims' bodies to the Council of Nine to prove their kill and receive benefits. Drifter and Mary Death were partners and enthusiasts till they were separated when Drifter left Mary Death to combat alone and transferred to the Badlands. Despite their previous rivalry, they still have a bond that neither can break.

Dispute and Resolution
As the plot advances, a bounty has been placed on Drifter's head, marking him as a business criminal, unbeknownst to him. This news puts Mary back into Drifter's life intending to declare the bounty on him. Through different encounters and battles, they discover that they are puppets in a bigger scheme planned by Second Sun, one of the rogue corporations of the defunct business era.

Challenged with the stunning revelation, Drifter and Mary interact to uncover the reality and reduce the real criminals. After intense fights, they are able to foil Second Sun's effort to overthrow the council and renew the federal governments. Consequently, Drifter assists show his innocence, and in the process, revives his relationship with Mary.

Characters and Performances
Matthew Marsden delivers a completely well balanced efficiency as Drifter, embodying the swagger of a bounty killer with a touch of vulnerability. Christian Pitre's portrayal of Mary Death is a peak in the film; she executes her character's ferocity in addition to an underlying psychological layer wonderfully. The chemistry in between Marsden and Pitre convincingly drives the narrative. The supporting cast, consisting of Jack McGee as bar owner, Beverly D'Angelo as Lucille and Gary Busey as Van Sterling, included depth to the story with their stellar performances.
