The Eternals are a team of ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. When an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows, they are forced to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

Film Overview
"Eternals", a 2021 movie directed by Chloé Zhao is the 26th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The movie centers around a group of never-ceasing celestial beings, The Eternals, who have actually been living undercover in the world for countless years. Their job is to secure humanity from an alien race called Deviants. The ensemble cast consists of Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Angelina Jolie, and Salma Hayek.

Plot Summary
In the world 5,000 years earlier, the Eternals are passed on directions by a Celestial called Arishem to eliminate the Deviants. Afterwards, the Eternals are not to disrupt human progress unless Deviants are included. Over centuries, the Eternals shape humanity's intellectual and technological growth while preventing routine attacks from the Deviants.

The film then leaps to present day after the events of Avengers: Endgame, when Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Sprite (Lia McHugh) are attacked by a Deviant in London. After the assault, Ikaris (Richard Madden) reunites the Eternals, revealing his understanding of the re-emergence of the Deviants who they believed had actually been extinct. The group starts an objective to discover the staying members, beginning with Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani).

Dispute and Revelation
The group eventually lose Ajak (Salma Hayek), the leader of the Eternals, to the Deviants. On her death, Sersi acquires the power to interact straight with Arishem. She finds the reality about their presence; the Eternals are synthetic beings created for the sole function of assisting planets to reach high populations. Arishem's plan consists of plans to hatch a Celestial sleeping inside the Earth which would eliminate all life in the world.

Climax
Confronted with this terrible truth, the Eternals split, with some defending Earth and the rest arguing they should satisfy their function for Arishem. After numerous fights and sacrifices, they lastly be successful in stopping the birth of the Celestial, conserving Earth.

Ending and Post-Credits Scenes
In the film's conclusion, Arishem comes back, captures Sersi, Ikaris, and Kingo, and states that he will judge Earth's merit. In one of the post-credits scenes, remaining Eternals, Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Thena (Angelina Jolie), and Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) on their spaceship are satisfied by Eros (Harry Styles) and Pip the Troll (Patton Oswalt), who reveal that they know about the other Eternals' capture. In another scene, Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) opens a strange chest possibly resulting in his becoming the Black Knight, a character from Marvel comics.

The film, "Eternals", is packed with psychological depth, vibrant visuals, and a cosmic scale. It presents audiences to a new group of heroes while broadening the MCU through new lore and future possible stories.
