"Hell & Back" is a 2015 American stop-motion adult animated fantasy comedy movie directed by Tom Gianas and Ross Shuman. It stars a large variety of voice stars consisting of Nick Swardson, Mila Kunis, Bob Odenkirk, T.J. Miller, Rob Riggle, Susan Sarandon, and Danny McBride. This R-rated funny integrates humor with components of fantasy in a creative representation of a misadventure in hell.

Plot Summary:
In "Hell & Back", lifelong pals Remy (Nick Swardson), Augie (T.J. Miller), and Curt (Rob Riggle) work at a stopping working carnival. Remy breaks a blood oath over a mint, a devil-shaped mint which turns out to be the real offer; Curt is then drawn into another dimension-- or hell, as it's much better known. In order to save him, the two pals, Remy and Augie, embark on a daring rescue objective into the depths of hell, browsing through hell's varied areas.

Characters & Performances:
Each of the characters is well-rounded and humorous in their own right. Remy, the negligent savior, is perfectly voiced by Nick Swardson; his bold humor sets the tone for the outrageous experience ahead. T.J. Miller voices Augie, Remy's best friend, who adds his special brand of subtler, deadpan humor. Finally, Curt, the one that gets drawn into hell, is played by Rob Riggle, who never ever fails to get a laugh.

Partway through their adventure, they satisfy Deema (Mila Kunis), a devil who works in hell, however dreams to explore life on earth. Mila Kunis is outstanding as Deema, using a funny yet rather wholehearted performance. Bob Odenkirk voices the Devil, portraying him as less frightening and more needy, adding an unforeseen dimension to the character which catches a lot of laughs.

Setting & Animation:

"Hell & Back" is enriched by its setting. Instead of a generic fiery inferno, hell is illustrated as a busy, rundown city with areas with various environments and locations. The animation is dealt with remarkably, with the stop-motion technique giving the movie a distinctive, offbeat appearance. The team of Shadow Machine, the creators behind "Robot Chicken", bring a similar visual to this film with their crude but charismatic animation.

Conclusion:
"Hell & Back" is a comedy with adult styles, grotesque stop-motion animation, and a somewhat irreverent take on the concept of hell. While definitely not appropriate for everyone, the film designs itself with a distinct mix of gory visuals and amusing humor, not shying away from dropping a couple of stunning jokes, which certainly marks it as distinctive.
