Plot Description
Jessabelle "Jessie" Laurent, after losing her fiancé in a vehicle mishap that also left her momentarily wheelchair-bound, retreats to her dad's Louisiana mansion. Wishing to recuperate and understand her tragic loss, Jessie instead reveals a series of secrets connected to her past. She discovers a gift from her departed mom, Kate, including a series of video tapes which exposes her mom's knowledge of Jessie's impending death.

Secret Unfolds
Jessie notifications unusual occurrences around the house and becomes haunted by spooky visions. The phantoms lead her towards a voodoo curse linked to her birth. She discovers that she was in fact embraced and her biological mother, who was a servant in your home, was killed by her adoptive mother out of jealousy over an affair with her hubby. The servant had put a death curse on Jessie in vengeance.

Last Reveal
In the movie's climactic series, Jessie learns that the spirit haunting her is really Jessabelle, her twin sibling who was thought to be stillborn. It's revealed that her adoptive daddy had actually drowned Jessabelle at birth to lift the curse. In a disturbing twist, it is revealed that the spirit of Jessabelle had been living vicariously through Jessie.

After a fight with her daddy and Jessabelle's spirit, Jessie is possessed by Jessabelle who utilizes her body as a vessel to live again. The film ends on a chilling note with Jessabelle, in Jessie's body, discarding Jessie's wheelchair into the lake as she leaves, symbolizing Jessabelle's victory over Jessie.
