Overview
"Knockaround Guys", a 2001 film directed by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, is a criminal offense thriller motion picture that concentrates on the boys of mafia hard-men who discover themselves attempting to go far on their own amidst the turbulent world of organized crime. The movie stars actors like Vin Diesel, Seth Green, Barry Pepper, John Malkovich, among others.

Plot
The plot of "Knockaround Guys" focuses on the protagonist Matty Demaret (Barry Pepper). Matty, attempting to get out of his father's (Benny Chains) mob life, is searching for the ideal opportunity to show his own capabilities. To encourage his dad he's capable of running business, he takes up a task- to retrieve a bag of money from a town out West- which his father agrees to, reluctantly.

Matty enrolls his youth good friends Marbles (Seth Green), Taylor Reese (Vin Diesel), and Chris Scarpa (Andrew Davoli) in his mission. The plot thickens when Marbles mistakenly loses the cash bag in a small Montana town referred to as Wibaux. The 4 friends discover themselves knotted with the corrupt regional constable, played by Tom Noonan, and the town's locals.

Conflict and Climax
Unaware that he ruined, Marbles vanishes without retrieving the bag. When the crew reaches and finds the horrible scenario, Taylor and Matty endeavour to find the missing funds. In their mission, they wind up involving Teddy Deserve (John Malkovich), a retired operative for Matty's daddy, who now lives in Montana. The small-town constable and his deputy discover the money and plot to keep it.

Interestingly, the city-slick gangsters discover themselves in over their heads with the town folks and are required to eliminate tooth and nail for their cash and survival. A series of plots and counterplots take place that culminate in a remarkable shoot-out. The climax brings a tragic end to some, justice for others and a newly found viewpoint for Matty.

Resolution
Despite the undesirable turns of occasions, Matty ultimately recuperates the lost cash and returns back to New York. He challenges his dad and Teddy about whatever that happened in Montana. He chooses to leave the life of criminal activity, declining to take up his daddy's legacy of his mafia empire, stating his decision to start a new chapter of life.
