A former firefighter and Special Forces officer takes on a team of murderous terrorists when the oceanliner he's working on is hijacked shortly after leaving port. Hired to evaluate security on a luxury cruise ship, blaze battler and former military man Kyle Considine (Casper Van Dien) brings his young son Zach along for a week of fun at sea. The fun stops, however, when the ship sets sail and a highly organized team of terrorists threaten the lives of everyone onboard.

Introduction

Plot Summary
The movie opens with the maiden voyage of a glamorous cruise ship named 'Star Princess'. To keep high security measures against any possible hazard, Kyle Considine (Casper Van Dien), an experienced gatekeeper, is employed. Kyle has a tumultuous past and needs to constantly cope his own demons. The maiden voyage is likewise gone to by his ex-wife Lynne, who belongs of the ship's design group.

Throughout the trip, a group of terrorists led by Joseph (Danielle Cormack), pirate the ship with a particular plan of crashing it into an oil rig, creating a catastrophe. The terrorists' main motive is to crash the ship into an offshore oil rig, blackmailing the government for monetary gain by threatening to rupture the oil pipe, triggering a massive ecological disaster. The scenario magnifies when the group kills the ship's captain for withstanding and takes control over the ship, leaving the travelers in severe risk.

Resolution of the Plot
Kyle becomes the travelers' last hope. He battles his own stress and anxiety, triggered by remaining in confined spaces due to a terrible event from his past where his kid drowned in a car after it inadvertently plunged into a body of water while trapped inside. As the only gatekeeper on board, he needs to overcome his fears to save everybody on the ship.

Kyle handles to turn the tables around, outsmart and subdue the terrorist group, one by one, through his wit and survival abilities. In the climax, he bravely dodges an attack from Joseph and makes her fall into the ship's turbine, killing her immediately. Kyle then gains control of the ship and narrowly prevents the approaching disaster by guiding the ship away from its scheduled collision course with the oil rig.

"Maiden Voyage" is a gripping action-drama that brings forward a tale of courage and resilience. The film significantly depicts how one male puts his fears behind to rescue an entire ship from heading towards an ecological catastrophe. With its well-paced narrative and power-packed efficiencies, particularly from Casper Van Dien, "Maiden Voyage" prospered in delivering an awesome cinematic experience to the audience. Stressing that guts is not the lack of worry however rather the victory over it, the film sensitively highlighted the psychological battles of its main character. It finishes up with a strong message that even under the direst of situations, a human could rise above his worries and become a true hero.
