It is a remake of the 1982 French comedy film, "Le Père Noël est une ordure".

Plot Summary
"Mixed Nuts" is centered around Philip (Steve Martin), who is running a crisis hotline in Venice, California, with his colleague and love interest, Catherine (Rita Wilson). Unfortunately, their crisis center, 'Lifesavers Hotline,' is on the edge of closing down due to their failure to pay lease. It's Christmas Eve, and amidst their own personal crises, they are overloaded with a myriad of wacky and distressed callers, consisting of a drag queen, a pregnant clothes saleswoman, and a self-destructive actor who is a routine prankster.

In a regrettable turn of events, their landlord, Stanley (Garry Shandling) evicts them for overdue lease on Christmas Eve. Amidst this turmoil, they cross courses with Gracie (Juliette Lewis), a ditzy, pregnant clothing saleswoman and her thick, wannabe songwriter boyfriend called Felix (Adam Sandler), and a mysterious caller who threatens to dedicate suicide.

Conclusion and Twist
Occasions spiral out of control when Philip mistakenly kills a secret guy, whom they discover is Stanley, the proprietor, the team, in addition to aid from their flamboyant next-door neighbor Chris (Liev Schreiber) and Catherine's strange mom (Cloris Leachman), they attempt to dispose of the body without attracting attention, causing several comical situations.
