Summary
"Mojave Moon" is a comedic and suspense-filled romantic thriller movie from 1996, directed by Kevin Dowling. This movie is centered on the curious journey of a guy called Al, played by Danny Aiello, from Los Angeles to the Mojave Desert.

The Main Characters
Al is an easy-going cars and truck salesman from Los Angeles who fulfills a lady called Ellie Meyers, played by Angelina Jolie. Ellie, a vibrant young spirit, triggers a particular fascination in Al and enlivens his ordinary life. She invites Al to meet her mom in the Mojave Desert-- an invitation that he accepts, uninformed of the massive change this choice will produce in his life.

In the remote lands of the Mojave, Al fulfills Ellie's eccentric mom, Julie, played by Anne Archer, who is in a relationship with a boy, Boyd, played by Michael Biehn. Boyd is a violent and jealous man, who suspiciously keeps an eye on Al right from the beginning.

Plot Developments
From this point, Al's journey becomes a whirlwind of peculiar and farcical occasions. He awakens in the middle of the desert in his vehicle, with no memory of the previous night, and finds a dead body in the trunk. Dazed and mystified, Al embarks on an experience as he attempts to remember the occasions leading up to the appearance of this body, and tries to deal with the precarious situation he discovers himself in.

Romantic Tangles
A popular subplot of "Mojave Moon" involves the budding romantic relationship between Al and Julie. The connection is a complex one given that Julie is already in a volatile relationship with the rancorous Boyd. On the other hand, Ellie, who triggered Al's journey into the Mojave, harbors a complex crush on him.

The Resolution
The secret ultimately untangles back in LA, where it's exposed that the body in the trunk became part of a fancy plot by Boyd to eliminate Al. The detailed web of emotions and half-truths are untangled as well, with Al and Julie solidifying their relationship. Boyd end up in prison, while Ellie, distanced from Al romantically, still maintains a soft area for him and grows from her experiences.

Tonal and Stylistic Elements
"Mojave Moon" is a distinct mix of dry humor, adventure, and romantic stress. The movie prospers in preserving a suspenseful environment that lasts till the climax, keeping viewers on edge. The large and barren landscapes of the Mojave magnify the sense of thriller and stress in the film, while also supplying a spectacular backdrop to the story's romantic developments.

Concluding Thoughts
"Mojave Moon", while not mainstream, is an eccentric movie that blends aspects of comedy, thriller, and love in an engaging tale. With a host of fascinating characters and a distinct story, the movie uses a distinctive cinematic experience that keeps viewers hooked till the very end.
