Introduction
"My Dead Boyfriend" is a quirky indie movie launched in 2016, composed by Billy Morrissette and directed by Anthony Edwards. Motivated by Arthur Nersesian's novel "Dogrun", the motion picture stars Heather Graham as the charming character Mary, along with Katherine Moening, John Corbett, and Scott Michael Foster. The film's plot revolves around Mary, an out of work woman who discovers the sudden death of her partner, Primo (Corbett) and discovers his secret life as she goes on a journey to fulfill his last dreams.

Plot Synopsis
In New York City, Mary comes home to her confined and worn-down home after losing her task as an Assistant Managing Editor. She discovers her dead partner Primo on the sofa. Initially, Mary is shocked and interrupted, but she gradually realises that the apparently lazy, out of work Primo had a life unknown to her.

With the help of Primo's dog, she sets out to deal with his ashes following his specific guidelines, while experiencing his eccentric friends and acquaintances. Mary initially meets "Cricket" (Moening), who was Primo's secret lesbian fan. The 2 females come together to deal with their shared sorrow and provide Primo an art exhibition, as he constantly wanted.

As Mary continues her quest of spreading Primo's ashes at various places around the city, she keeps discovering more about the mysterious life Primo lived; he was a member of a hard rock band, a drug dealer, and a promiscuous lover with a long-lasting relationship with a woman of the street named Miss Vadge.

Meanwhile, a man named Ralph Maresco (Foster) goes into the photo. Ralph was a worker of the book shop where Primo utilized to work. He is a breath of fresh air for Mary, who begins to treasure her life and learn to move on from Primo's death. Nevertheless, Ralph has tricks of his own, and Mary needs to identify whether Ralph is simply another shady part of Primo's life or a new beginning.

Throughout the motion picture, different characters state their memories of Primo with contrasting point of views. While some view him as a reckless, deceitful womanizer, others see a man of honor who put the needs of his loved ones prior to his own. In the middle of the untidy love triangle between Mary, Primo, and Cricket, Mary soon understands that Ralph, who has actually fallen for her, was Primo's friend.

Cinematography and Direction
The movie's overall cinematography effectively provides the unique environment of New York's East Village, and Anthony Edwards' instructions precisely captures the funny and disorderly nature of the movie's storyline. While a number of Mary's encounters appear rather implausible, the film preserves a clear narrative that keeps the audience engaged.

Performances
Heather Graham provides a charming and considerate performance as Mary, who carries out a journey of self-discovery and growth. Moening carries her edgy role as Cricket, supplying a consistent and complex character in the middle of the chaos. Corbett impresses with his representation of the enigmatic Primo, who sets the plot in movement and keeps the audience guessing about his true nature. Scott Michael Foster includes depth to the emotion-filled movie as the seemingly naive Ralph.

Conclusion
"My Dead Boyfriend" is a quirky, dark, and amusing dive into the life of a female who discovers her deceased fan's covert life while navigating her own unpleasant affairs. The movie tackles concerns of love, betrayal, and interpersonal relations, making it an interesting watch.
