Film Overview
"Passengers", released in 2016, is a science fiction film directed by Morten Tyldum and including Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in the lead roles. Plot Summary
The story begins when Chris Pratt's character, Jim Preston, an engineer, gets up from his hibernation sleep 90 years early due to a breakdown in his pod. In the middle of the isolation and desperation as the only one awake, Jim eventually develops a fascination for a fellow traveler, Aurora Lane played by Jennifer Lawrence, a writer from New York. After investing a year in seclusion and after a period of ethical predicament, he chooses to wake Aurora up. He does not expose the fact to her about how she got up but rather lets her think it was a breakdown similar to his.

Surrounded by sophisticated robotics and virtual reality, the set grow closer and fall in love with time. The happiness of friendship is short-lived when Arthur, the android bartender, unintentionally reveals to Aurora that Jim had intentionally woken her up. Aurora feels betrayed and ravaged.

As if their relationship troubles weren't enough, system breakdowns end up being increasingly major and start threatening the ship and the sleepers' lives.
