Pulse 3 (2008)

Pulse 3 Poster

Seven years after the last attack by the "soulless ghosts" who haunted the human race twice before, the world is left void of all deadly electronics that almost destroyed it... or so we thought. Living a primitive existence on the outskirts of the city, human survivors are surviving without any trace of technology. That is until 16 year old Justine enters the city and, letting her curiosity get the best of her, opens a working laptop and unknowingly unleashes the most terrifying attack the survivors have ever faced. In a world already torn and without hope, can humanity make it through the toughest struggle of all time?

Introduction
"Pulse 3" is a 2008 scary sci-fi movie directed by Joel Soisson. It is the third installation in the "Pulse" franchise. Written by Soisson himself, the film continues the narrative thread from its predecessors, which revolve around a world where the digital and the corporeal realm collide, letting malicious spirits go through the web into our world.

Plot Summary
"Pulse 3" occurs 7 years on from the disastrous occasions of "Pulse 2". Human beings have actually fled the cities, now shabby and overrun by ghosts originating from the digital world, to look for haven in the barren wastes to escape the sinister spirits' reach. The primary character is Justine (Brittany Finamore), a teen who has actually matured in a post-apocalyptic world. She becomes fascinated by a relic of the past - a laptop that operates when linked to a primitive 'dinosaur' satellite.

Driven by her curiosity and inherent yearning for familiar interaction in her separated, desolate world, Justine begins interacting with a strange complete stranger called Adam (Rider Strong) over the internet. Unbeknownst to her, this action resumes the portal letting the destructive ghosts through, therefore threatening her camp.

Characters
Justine is the protagonist; a seventeen-year-old stoic and survival-oriented character who despite living within the boundaries of her camp and rigorous guidelines set by Michelle (Diane Goldner), her protective yet loveless adoptive mom, wishes for a life similar to the vintage. Adam, just understood through the online world, acts as the plot's major catalyst jump-starting Justine's unsafe journey into the run-down city. Michelle, although initially appearing harsh and stringent, exposes her layered vulnerabilities through her desperate efforts to keep Justine safe.

Styles and Concepts
"Pulse 3" takes on some extensive questions amidst its scary story, such as what takes place when innovation violates its boundaries and intrudes into the human world. It highlights the potentially destructive outcomes of mankind's reliance on technology, even after witnessing its deadly consequences.

Within its bleak, dystopian setting, the film also explores styles of isolation, yearning for human connection, and rebellion against enforced restrictions. These are embodied in Justine's interactions with Adam and her growing dissatisfaction with her life's constraints.

Conclusion
"Pulse 3" is a notable next chapter in the "Pulse" trilogy, delivering a marrying of horror and science fiction with strong efficiencies, particularly Brittany Finamore's portrayal of Justine. Though it is based upon a catastrophic technological property, it drives house a poignant underlying message concerning humankind's strength, the longing for human interaction, and the lengths to which one may go to leave entrapment and seclusion. Regardless of its scary label, Soisson's film is both a dystopian character research study and a cautionary tale about the intertwining of humanity and technology.
