Overview
"R.I.P.D". or "Rest in Peace Department" is a 2013 American science fiction action-comedy movie directed by Robert Schwentke and based upon a comic book series by Peter M. Lenkov. It starred Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, and Stephanie Szostak. Its plot revolves around the story of two just recently deceased law enforcement officer who work for the Rest in Peace Department, a celestial police force that fights spirits not yet ready to depart the Earth.

Plot
Two detectives, Boston Police Department officers Nick Walker and Bobby Hayes, discover a chest full of gold while on task. Hayes suggests they take the gold and disappear, while Walker is more unwilling. However, he concurs, however after seeing the love of his life, Julia, he chooses to return his share. The disagreement between the two escalates, which results in a deadly shootout where Walker is killed by Hayes.

Walker wakes up in the office of Proctor, head of the Rest in Peace Department (R.I.P.D.).
