Intro
"Rise of the Gargoyles" is a 2009 scary tv film directed by Bill Corcoran and starring Eric Balfour and Caroline Néron. The movie, which premiered on the Syfy tv network, presents a thrilling story of a cursed creature awakened from a sleep of millennia prepared to let loose horror on the city of Paris.

Plot Summary
The movie opens with a group of unsuspecting explorers getting in a strange church basement in Paris. Inside, they discover and accidentally break open a hidden tomb believed to be that of a Satanist Bishop. Unbeknownst to them, they awaken a dormant gargoyle that had actually been caught for centuries.

Right away upon its release, the animal starts a series of sinister and dreadful occasions as it takes revenge against the human beings that interrupted its resting location. Buildings and city landmarks become prime hunting grounds for the furious gargoyle.

Meanwhile, a devoted and revered American Professor, Jack Randall, represented by Eric Balfour, and his colleague Carol Beckham, played by Caroline Néron, unearth odd discoveries tied to the gargoyle's presence. They connect the released animal to previous mysterious disappearances and quickly develop that they are now in the crosshairs of a supernatural catastrophe.

Characterization and Acting
Beyond the plot, the characters keep the movie fascinating. Jack, the central character, is a non-believer in supernatural beings, while Carol reveals a keen interest and understanding in the legendary world. Together, they bring an engaging dynamic of opposites that draws audiences into their quest for responses.

Eric Balfour delivers an engaging performance as a sceptical scholastic dragged into a supernatural enigma. Meanwhile, Caroline Néron exemplifies a deep understanding of her character and brings to life a lady who oscillates in between fear and fascination for supernatural animals.

Action and Drama
With the gargoyles creating chaos across Paris and feeding off the city's homeowners, Jack, Carol, and a hesitant regional police, Nicole, are drawn into the turmoil. The film handles an even darker tone as they attempt to persuade authorities of the impending danger just for their claims to fall on deaf ears. In addition, their pursuit to stop the gargoyle and avoid more deaths creates an exhilarating chase and a climactic fight sequence filled with action-packed scenes.
