Story
Scared Shrekless is a Halloween-themed 26-minute computer-animated television special that aired on the NBC network in 2010. The unique informs the story of Shrek, the adorable troll, taking part in a scary storytelling competitors with his buddies; Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingy, Wolf, Pinocchio, and the Three Little Pigs, all beloved characters from the Shrek series.

Plot
The plot of the special is based upon Shrek's love for 'scaring' his friends on Halloween. This year, he chooses to hold a competitors. The characters gather at a castle, promoted to be the most haunted in the land-- Lord Farquaad's deserted castle in Duloc. The obstacle? To stay in the haunted castle all night, telling spooky stories and the last one who remains without getting terrified, wins.

Conflicts and Resolutions
Each character tells their own scary story, with each attempting to scare the others out of their wits. Gingy tells a story of a monstrous, evil witch cook, Donkey and Puss team up and tell a tale of a headless horseman who ends up being a kitten-seeking milk, and Shrek spins a parody of Michael Myers, starring Pinocchio as the evil puppet. Every story leads to several characters leaving in fear, leaving Shrek as the obvious victor.

Shrek's Horror Story
Shrek's story proves the most scary, detailing how all his buddies might become humans, losing their unique identities, which genuinely shocks his buddies. However right at the essence of his success, Donkey, who formerly ran in fear, returns with a squad of Duloc's old guards, pretending to be the spirit of Lord Farquaad. While this discovery practically unnerves Shrek, he recognizes it's a technique when he identifies Donkey.

Conclusion
Shrek exposes that he determined Donkey was in a costume. Donkey's strategy backfires, frightening the 'wits' out of him and he escapes, announcing Shrek as the winner. The special wraps up with a laughing Shrek, seeing as Donkey bolts off into the distance, announcing that he's still the king of Halloween. The characters return to their usual bantering, ending the episode with a dose of wholesome metaphoric hilarity.
