"Son of Lassie" is an American Technicolor household movie directed by S. Sylvan Simon launched in 1945. It is the sequel to MGM's successful Lassie film, with a story focused around 'Laddie', boy of the well-known Rough Collie.

Story
The film starts in the Yorkshire town of Haselbury, home to the well-known Lassie and her son, likewise a rough collie called Laddie. The Duke of Rudling (Nigel Bruce) and his neighbor, Joe Carraclough (Donald Crisp), are disputing which of Laddie's littermates to keep, and the Duke's granddaughter, Priscilla (June Lockhart), argues for Laddie due to the fact that she believes he has acquired his mother's intelligence and nerve. Nevertheless, Joe's kid, Joe Jr. (Peter Lawford), chooses the shabby and frisky Laddie, who undoubtedly stays in Yorkshire.

War-Zone Adventures
The tale takes a twist when Joe Jr. is prepared into the Royal Air Force throughout World War II and smuggles Laddie aboard his bomber. They fly toward Norway, but are shot down by opponent fire, resulting in a crash landing. Amazingly, Joe and Laddie survive, however Joe is hurt and unconscious, leading Laddie to start a mission for help, thus showing guts and loyalty, like his mom.

Laddie deals with a dangerous journey where he battles with wolves, endures gunshots, and braves the severe cold. He saves Joe Jr. from the Nazis, losing a paw while doing so. Eventually, they find Norwegian resistance fighters who assist them escape and go back to Haselbury. True to his brave lineage, Laddie is applauded for his bravery, granted a medal from the Royal Air Force, and permanently remembered as a war hero.

Performances
Returning from the initial film, Donald Crisp gives a heartwarming performance as the kind and modest Joe Carraclough, perfectly catching a father's concern for his son. Peter Lawford is remarkable as Joe Jr., depicting the character's affection and regard for Laddie convincingly. June Lockhart shines in her function as Priscilla, making her character both spirited and relatable.

The Dogs
The real stars of the film, nevertheless, are Lassie (Pal) and Laddie (Pal's child).
