Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher, there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Introduction
"Split" is a psychological scary movie released in 2017, directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan. It stars James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Betty Buckley, to name a few. The movie delves into the life of a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) who abducts three teenage women, leading to a tense and frightening story that checks out the depths of the human mind.

Plot Summary
The film begins with the kidnapping of three teenage girls-- Casey, Claire, and Marcia-- by Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man with 23 unique personalities, played brilliantly by James McAvoy. The girls get up in an unidentified, windowless space and soon come across some of Kevin's characters, consisting of the stern and meticulous Dennis and the prim and correct Patricia. The ladies need to discover a method to leave before the introduction of a feared 24th personality referred to as "The Beast".

Throughout the movie, we discover the complexities of Kevin's character through his sessions with his psychiatrist, Dr. Karen Fletcher. Dr. Fletcher is portrayed by Betty Buckley, and she is deeply purchased the research study of DID. She presumes that Kevin's condition may enable him to display physical attributes special to each character. These sessions provide a glimpse into the inner functions of Kevin's mind and the battle for control among his different identities.

As the narrative unfolds, Casey, one of the hostages, who has a traumatic past of her own, tries to empathize with some of Kevin's characters in a bid to outsmart him and leave. The other ladies attempt their plans, but they soon find out that some personalities are more compassionate, like the nine-year-old Hedwig, while others, like Dennis, are even more dangerous.

The suspense develops as "The Beast" personality starts to take control of, symbolizing Kevin's distressing childhood and his mind's supreme defense mechanism. "The Beast" displays supernatural strength and animalistic qualities, which is seen as an evolution by some of Kevin's personalities who think in its presence to secure them from the world's harm.

Dr. Fletcher ultimately pieces together the seriousness of the scenario and goes to Kevin's home, where she comes across "The Beast" in full control. She attempts to utilize a keyword to bring Kevin's original personality back but is overpowered and eliminated.

Meanwhile, Casey's cunning and calm behavior allow her to survive and rather get in touch with Kevin's personalities, which provides her glances of chance to escape. However, "The Beast" acknowledges her complicated history and intense suffering, something it sees in itself, ultimately sparing her life.

Climax and Conclusion
The film culminates with the escape of Casey, who is saved by one of Kevin's characters before "The Beast" can hurt her. She is discovered by a security guard and taken to security while Kevin, now entirely controlled by "The Beast" and his encouraging characters, goes into hiding.

The last scenes show Kevin's characters speaking amongst themselves, getting ready for the world to understand "The Beast's" power. Somewhere in a restaurant, clients become aware of Kevin's criminal activities on the news, where he is dubbed "The Horde". This prompts an older man to remember a comparable criminal with a strange name, which is revealed to be Mr. Glass, connecting the film to Shyamalan's earlier work, "Unbreakable", hence setting the stage for a shared cinematic universe.

Split leaves the audience considering the true capacity of the human mind and the darkness that can result from its fractured parts. It's a chilling mix of thriller, horror, and psychological thriller that showcases McAvoy's extraordinary performance and Shyamalan's storytelling prowess.
