In a small peaceful town, zombies suddenly rise to terrorize the town. Now three bespectacled police officers and a strange Scottish morgue expert must band together to defeat the undead.

Film Overview
"The Dead Don't Die" is a 2019 American funny scary film composed and directed by Jim Jarmusch. It features an ensemble cast that includes Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, and others. It's a comical take on the popular zombie category, using the trope to offer sharp commentary on modern-day society.

Plot Summary
Embed in the little quiet town of Centerville, the movie begins by presenting policeman Cliff Robertson (Bill Murray) and Ronnie Peterson (Adam Driver), who need to handle the consequences of fracking on the earth's axis, triggering weird things to happen like daylight hours changing. When numerous missing animals and a missing shipment guy are reported, they head to the woods and find an open grave, indicating the beginning of a zombie apocalypse.

As the town descends into chaos, the pair, joined by fellow officer Minerva "Mindy" Morrison (Chloë Sevigny), attempt to handle the situation. Zombies, yearning what they liked in life - from motion picture star lovers to coffee to Chardonnay - start to stroll the streets. The film admires George Romero, with "Night of the Living Dead" being referenced several times.

Character Introduction and Development
We satisfy extra eccentric characters such as Hermit Bob (Tom Waits) who resides in the woods and watches as things unfold from a range, supplying the narrative voiceover. Scottish mortician Zelda Winston (Tilda Swinton) is experienced in samurai-style weapon fight, which shows to be exceptionally handy when fighting zombies. There are also 3 city-kids travelling through who get trapped in a detention center, a racist farmer (Steve Buscemi), and the owner of the local diner, among others.

Ending and Reflection
A running joke throughout the movie is that Officer Peterson has actually checked out the full script for the movie (given just to him and Murray) and repeatedly informs the other characters, "This is going to end terribly". Certainly, at the climax, when hundreds more zombies rise, only Winston seems capable of handling them. However, she suddenly and inexplicably gets beamed up by an alien spaceship, leaving the others to look after themselves.

The officers attempt to escape but sadly, Cliff and Mindy get killed by zombies. Ronnie survives, yet he's left surrounded by zombies. Hermit Bob, watching from the woods, blames the circumstance on 'material greed'.

Movie's Critical Reception
"The Dead Don't Die" premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and got combined evaluations from critics. While the social commentary and star-studded cast were appreciated, some critics discovered its rate sluggish and the humor dry. Many appreciated its use of timeless horror components and found its quirky, unpredictable nature rejuvenating. Others, criticised it for its absence of depth and coherence. This film contributes to Jarmusch's repertoire of unconventional and special work, bringing moments of meta humor and satire within the context of the zombie genre.
