Following the passing of his father, Aaron Hammond returns to his hometown to help his devastated mother and to confront his past demons. Sifting through his father’s belongings, Aaron comes upon a mysterious item that is far more than it seems.

Plot Summary
The film revolves around the life of Aaron Hammond (Michael Welch), a haggard law school graduate who returns to his youth house following the death of his daddy. His strained relationship with his mother (Lin Shaye), who suffers from dementia, does little to lighten the concern of his sorrow.

During the initial preparation of his father's estate, Aaron finds an antique urn that piques his interest. Unbeknownst to him, the urn carries a sinister entity that is set off by an individual's desires. As Aaron's life starts to improve after making a few desires, he associates these changes to the urn's supernatural powers. Yet, he fails to think about the possible curse that the antique might hold.

As the plot unfolds, Aaron is forced to deal with the effects of his desires. Each desire, no matter its intent, produces the demise of somebody near to him. He enlists the help of an antiques manager (Tony Todd) who describes that the urn brings a Djinn, a supernatural entity understood in Middle-Eastern mythology, that grants dreams but at a harmful expense.

Compelled to reverse menstruation and save his enjoyed ones, Aaron attempts to deceive the Djinn by wishing that he had actually never found the urn. However, this creative stunt seems to work against him as he is sent to an alternative truth where his daddy is still alive, however he does not exist, therefore being powerless to reverse the desire.

Conclusion
Despite the desperate situation, alternative-Aaron manages to connect with his "reality-self" through a quick paranormal experience, which helps him understand the full implications of the desire. In a final act of self-sacrifice, Aaron nullifies the impacts of all his desires, simultaneously ending the Djinn's reign and returning his life back to regular.

Aaron's sacrifice leads to a pricey triumph. Although menstruation is broken, he finds himself back in the extreme reality of his grief-stricken presence, destined endure the sorrow of his daddy's death and the strain of his mother's dementia.
