Introduction
"The Hollars" is a delightful drama-comedy movie of 2016. Directed by John Krasinski, the movie is a heartfelt narrative about a family crisis that reconnects a struggling child to his rather dysfunctional family. The ensemble cast stars Krasinski, Anna Kendrick, Margaret Martindale, Richard Jenkins to name a few.

Plot Overview
John Hollar (John Krasinski), is a struggling graphic author living in New York with his pregnant girlfriend Rebecca (Anna Kendrick). His life is a string of disappointments, with a collapsing non-starter career and an unsure future welcoming parenthood. These everyday concerns become insignificant when he gets a telephone call notifying him that his mom, Sally (Margo Martindale), has developed a brain growth and needs surgery. John flies back to his little home town in Ohio to be by his mom's side which produces a variety of combined feelings and interactions with his quirky family and old associates.

Household Dynamics

The Hollars are caring but mentally scattered, with a specifically aberrant father (Richard Jenkins) handling his failing business and battling his stress and anxieties. John's irregular sibling Ron Hollar (Sharlto Copley), positions another side of the family characteristics. Copley, living in your home after his divorce, is perpetually stalking his ex-wife and kids, much to the chagrin of everyone.

Interactions & Relationships
Throughout the course of the movie, John embarks on reconnecting with his childhood sweetheart who is now married to a moody and selfish nurse (Charlie Day), who is dealing with Sally's case. The uncomfortable scenario culminates in a powerful scene of conflict among them.

On the other hand, Rebecca's far away pregnancy, a synchronised mirror to Sally's health, becomes a critical point in the film providing a smart parallel of life's cyclical nature.

Conclusion

The power-packed cast comes together to develop a mix of amusing, unfortunate, and emotional memories that leave a psychological imprint. The poignant message that surfaces towards the end establishes the unpredictability and fragility of life, where in a moment, everything can alter, teaching us to value those around us. The movie is an insightful brush stroke into the world of comedy-drama that brings an undercurrent of level of sensitivity and humor.
