A group of idealistic, but frustrated, liberals succumb to the temptation of murdering rightwing pundits for their political beliefs.

Introduction
"The Last Supper" is a satirical, dark comedy movie directed by Stacy Title and launched in 1995. The movie showcases an ensemble cast which includes Cameron Diaz, Ron Eldard, Annabeth Gish, Jonathan Penner, Courtney B. Vance, Bill Paxton, and Ron Perlman. The plot of this film intertwines themes of morality, justice, political viewpoints, and the extremes people can go to maintain their beliefs.

Plot Overview
The film focuses on 5 progressive graduate students - Jude, Pete, Paulie, Luke, and Marc - sharing a home in Iowa. All of them have strong liberal views and often indulge in intellectual arguments over supper. One night, their discussion is suddenly interrupted by a hitchhiker, Zach, an extreme right-wing racist. After a heated argument and a scuffle, Zach is accidentally eliminated by Marc. The group, at first frightened, chooses to bury the body and keep the killing a trick.

Continuing The Tradition
The group then handles a ridiculous project - they host a series of suppers, inviting people with conservative views that they consider harmful. They subject these visitors to intense ideological arguments over supper. If they fail to transform the guests to their liberal perspective, they toxin the visitors and bury the bodies in their garden, meaning to prevent them from damaging society with their views. Each death, represented by a tomato plant in their garden, reaffirms in their mind the "great" they give society.

Escalation and Downfall
As the killings escalate, the matter gets out of control, with visitors ending up being more challenging and their ideologies more severe. The turning point comes with Norman Arbuthnot, a controversial conservative expert played by Ron Perlman. Although Arbuthnot is transformed to liberalism, he is still poisoned, moving the group's indicated validation of murder "for the higher excellent" to outright intolerance.

Concurrently, Sheriff Alice Stanley, starts to suspect the group's activities owing to a missing individuals report by one of the guest's girlfriends. The climax of the film gets here with a nervous breakdown by one of the trainees, leading to bloody carnage and a fire. The final scene leaves ambiguity regarding whether any of the trainees survive the night's events.

Themes and Reception
"The Last Supper" takes a look at the themes of fanaticism, violent ways to social change and the power of conversation as a tool for human understanding. The film's dark humor and satirical take on severe actions in the name of political belief expose the threats in the polarisation of opinions, painting murder in the name of ideology as grotesque and ridiculous.

The motion picture was well-received by critics and audience for its clever plot twists, engaging dialogues, and satirical look at serious social concerns. The movie continues to remain a classic black comedy with a chilling message about the repercussions of severe ideology.
