The Poseidon Adventure (2005)

The Film Setting
"The Poseidon Adventure" is a 2005 catastrophe film based upon the 1972 film of the same name, itself based upon Paul Gallico's novel. It was directed by John Putch and starred Steve Guttenberg, Sylvia Syms, and Adam Baldwin among others. The plot is set on the luxurious S.S. Poseidon on an Atlantic Ocean cruise from South Africa to the U.S., throughout New Year's Eve.

Plot Introduction
As the movie starts, passengers are seen delighting in the New Year's Eve celebration on the Poseidon. Among these individuals are a parade of characters consisting of an expert gambler, a New York detective and his ex-wife, a priest, a senior British couple, and others. Initially, whatever goes smoothly with travelers delighting in the festivities and numerous high-ends of the cruise.

The Disaster Strikes
However, the joviality modifications to horror as a rogue wave suddenly strikes the ship in the Atlantic Ocean. The huge wave, almost 100 feet high, flips the enormous ship upside down. The attractive decors, food from celebrations and the party mood turn into a turmoil. Panic takes place amongst the guests, as they discover themselves caught listed below deck, with the ship quickly filling with water.

The Fight for Survival
The flamboyant homosexual entertainer, Gloria, played by Rutger Hauer, becomes an unexpected leader, along with bettor, Dylan Johns (Adam Baldwin), and previous firefighter, Mike Rogo (Steve Guttenberg). In addition to a determined group of survivors with ranging personalities and backgrounds, they choose to reach the bottom of the ship, now the only part above water. The Climax
As the ship sinks even more, the survivors face a series of deadly obstacles. Culminating in an unsafe swim through a narrow undersea tunnel and to the propeller ducts, they handle to reach the hull surface area of the ship. They send out a call for help with an emergency situation beacon and are saved by a British naval ship.

Conclusion
"The Poseidon Adventure" is a thrilling disaster motion picture that integrates human battle, unity, and survival to develop a memorable cinematic experience. The movie mostly focuses on the grim presence and the extreme battle for survival in the most dangerous scenarios.
