On a mission to get God's attention in hopes that God will heal his sister from terminal cancer, a young boy begins answering the prayers left by church members in the pastor's prayer box after the pastor throws them away, jaded by his own suffering.

Introduction
"The Prayer Box" is a sincere Christian-themed film released in 2018, directed by Kevan Otto. The film tells us a story about a neglectful young boy called Tyler and his discovery of a box full of prayers of his deceased next-door neighbor's desires, that ultimately changes his understanding about life.

Plot
The film begins with the 12-year-old lead character, Tyler, who is offered the task of cleaning the old church yard as a summer job. As he is tending to the yard, he encounter an old wood prayer box hidden in the church's garden shed. As a curious young kid, he opens the box exposing a stack of little cards with every one bearing a various prayer or plea composed by a female, named Ida.

The prayers written over the years by Ida, a devout member of the church prayer group who had actually recently died, are both heart-wrenching and informative. Much of the prayers reveal Ida's battles with her life and faith, her concerns for her family, her community, and her thankfulness for life. Fascinated and touched by the deep yearnings and simple desires exposed in Ida's prayers, Tyler becomes deeply soaked up in them, which leads him to learn more about Ida.

Character Transformations
Throughout the movie, Tyler gets a brand-new perspective of the world and chooses to carry out some of Ida's unsatisfied wishes. He finds a brand-new function in his otherwise unengaging life. With time, he starts to develop empathy and understanding for others, positively transforming his character. Meanwhile, Tyler's indifferent moms and dads, Lisa and John, unknowingly begin to gain from Tyler's goodwill actions influenced by Ida's prayers.

Heartening Developments
Following the list of prayers, Tyler starts some dramatic endeavors, much of which are beyond a 12-year-old ability. At one point, he tries to repair his moms and dads' failing marital relationship, at another, he intends to fix up Ida's separated son with his household. In the end, inspired by Ida's prayers, Tyler assists his family grow stronger by dealing with the discontentment and personal concerns that they were dealing with. The film concludes on an effective note, motivating audiences to count on God during difficult times and highlighting the power of prayer and goodwill towards others.
