In the Olden Tymes, Count Regula is drawn and quartered for killing twelve virgins in his dungeon torture chamber. Thirty-five years later, he comes back to seek revenge on the daughter of his intended thirteenth victim and the son of his prosecutor in order to attain immortal life.

Film Overview
"The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism" (1967), likewise known as "The Blood Demon" or "Castle of the Walking Dead", is a West German horror movie directed by Harald Reinl. This vintage scary genre movie rotates around the legendary character of Count Regula, depicted by the iconic horror star Christopher Lee. The film is loosely based upon Edgar Allan Poe's story "The Pit and the Pendulum".

Main Plot
The story begins with the arrest of Count Regula, who gruesomely drains pipes blood from young maidens to achieve immortality. After killing 12 maidens, he is sentenced to death by quartering. His last words forecast his resurrection.

Fast forward 40 years, Roger Montelise (Lex Barker) gets an enigmatic letter. The sender welcomes him to the castle of the departed Count Regula. Montelise, who is still haunted by the ominous death of his moms and dads - likewise victims of the Count, accepts the invite to decipher the mystery. On his mission, he is accompanied by the lawyer Fabian (Vladimir Medar) and the stunning Baroness Lilian von Brabant (Karin Dor).

The Journey and Encounters
The path leading to the castle unfolds numerous surrealist scenes filled with foreboding components - fog-filled forests, bone-strewn paths, and a spooky carriage ride, portraying an omnipresent spectral presence. Upon showing up, they're surprised to discover the castle managed by Anatole, a servant who Johanna, Lilian's house maid, recognizes from her youth. This fosters a sense of suspicion and intrigue encapsulating the whole narrative.

The Resurrection of Count Regula
Proving the prophetic last words true, the Count resurrects from the dead, revealing his objective to preserve eternal life by sacrificing Lilian, who by the way is the child of among his previous victims. Count Regula embodies the ideal villain with his abundant hatred and sadistic demeanor towards human life. His grand torture chamber, macabre experiments, and general attitude effectively stimulate horror and suspense.

Final Confrontation and Denouement
The climax unfolds a fight in between Roger and Count Regula, where surprisingly, Anatole turns against his master and aids Roger. Ultimately, Count Regula relents and falls in a deadly pit. Roger saves Lilian, and the duo, along with Anatole, handles to leave the castle just as it collapses. The viewer is offered a sigh of relief as justice dominates the gory pursuit of immortality.

"The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism" comes equipped with all ultimate aspects of timeless horror - a cursed castle, resurrected evil, bloody rituals, and chivalric heroism.
