Film introduction
"The Vault" is a 2017 American horror-thriller film directed by Dan Bush and written by Dan Bush and Conal Byrne. The film stars actors such as James Franco, Taryn Manning, Francesca Eastwood, and Scott Haze. The plot revolves around two sis who prepare a bank robbery to conserve their sibling. The story includes a distinct twist to the basic break-in plot, presenting supernatural elements and a haunted bank vault.

Main Plot
The movie begins with sis Leah (Francesca Eastwood) and Vee (Taryn Manning) planning a bank robbery to bail their bro, Michael (Scott Haze), out of problem. They perform the heist with the aid of accomplices, Cyrus (Keith Loneker Jr.), Kramer (Michael Milford), and Maureen (Q'orianka Kilcher). What seems like a basic crime thriller shifts when Ed Maas (James Franco), the bank's assistant supervisor, reveals that the real cash-- circa $6 million-- is concealed in an old vault in the basement.

Upon reaching the basement, the burglars find a spooky, decrepit setting unlike the rest of the bank. Unbeknown to them, the vault's door was sealed after a deadly fire years ago that killed numerous teller who were later on reported to haunt the place. As the burglars burglarize the vault, they let loose these violently upset spirits.

Twist in the Tale
Once the vault is opened, the supernatural element comes to the fore. The crew begins experiencing inexplicable, horrifying events. They are tormented by phantoms, and Kramer is found dead in a relatively difficult suicide. The spirits possess Cyrus, and he goes on a violent rampage, eliminating Maureen before he is shot down by Michael.

All at once, Leah and Vee discover photographic proof of the bank's historical tragedy and realize what they have actually let loose. The surviving robbers decide to abandon their strategy, however the mad spirits have other strategies. The spectral beings, resembling burn victims, force Michael and Ed into the basement, where they face Vee and Leah.

Climax and Ending
The climax intensifies as Vee succumbs to ownership and attacks Leah. In an awful face-off, Leah is required to eliminate her sister and makes a run for it, entrusting to a smaller sized amount than they had gone for. Nevertheless, as she turns around for one last look, she sees the phantoms of her departed companions and recognizes she hasn't made it out unthreatened.

In the last twist, Ed is exposed as the ghost of the previous bank supervisor accountable for the fatal fire. Haunted with regret, he had stayed behind to ensure the spirits of his victims remained undisturbed-- a task he stopped working when the break-in effort awakened them.

Total reception
"The Vault" was recognized for blending categories-- criminal activity thriller and supernatural scary-- resulting in an unique narrative journey. This combination received blended reactions, with some praising the film's creativity, while others argued that it ended up being too disjointed. Despite its polarizing reception, the film's efficiencies, particularly those of Eastwood, Manning, and Franco, were mostly praised.

Overall, "The Vault" is an interesting blend of heist film and ghost story filled with unforeseen weaves, leading the characters from an apparently easy robbery to a scary supernatural experience.
