Plot Summary
Goon, Harlan Banks (Steven Seagal), an ex-thief, chooses to give up his life of criminal offense for a quieter, honest existence. He takes on an apparently straightforward job, as a motorist for a Vegas gambling establishment armored truck, set up by his girlfriend, Jada (Mari Morrow). As soon as begun, the job changes from one that seemed regular to the start of a tough journey for Harlan, when he is fooled and thus forced to take part in a large-scale heist. Harlan's assumed normal life is turned upside down when he gets caught in a burglary led by his colleague, Max (Kevin Tighe), and it fails.

Harlan Outlawed
Max, after shooting shots, links Harlan, making him the target of the criminal offense. Attempting to escape the cops, a high-speed chase occurs that ends in an explosive crash. Harlan endures the crash, just to be betrayed by Max. Harlan is framed for murder and the substantial break-in at the gambling establishment. He's imprisoned but promises that someone will pay for setting him up.

The Jail Break
In prison, Harlan satisfies Ice Cool (Anthony Criss), a small-time scoundrel with connections on the exterior. They form an alliance, and together, they break out of jail, producing an aspect of non-stop action and enjoyment throughout the film. Harlan wants to clear his name and bring the genuine perpetrators to justice, while Ice is out to retrieve his stash of diamonds robbed from him.

Revenge & Redemption
The remainder of the "Today You Die" follows Harlan and Ice on their captivating force-filled adventure as they evade the police, going after the villains who set Harlan up. Harlan, using his abilities as an ex-thief and his determination to clear his name, locates the culprits. One by one, Harlan takes them down, lastly facing Max. More facts are exposed: Max was working for Vincent (Robert Miano), a corrupt gambling establishment owner who masterminded the break-in.

Harlan is successful in avenging himself, retrieving the taken cash, and clearing his name. He turns over the proof versus Vincent to the FBI. In the end, Harlan saves his and Ice's lives, gets the woman, and even uses the recovered money to support a church.
