Summary
"Wish Upon" is a 2017 American supernatural horror movie directed by John R. Leonetti and written by Barbara Marshall. The film revolves around a wonderful, yet evil, box that uses to grant any seven wishes in return for a soul.

Plot
Clare Shannon (Joey King), the film's protagonist, is a 17-year-old high school student who is still grieving her mom's suicide. Continuously bullied in school and humiliated by her hoarder father, she wishes for a much better life. One day, her daddy (Ryan Phillippe) presents her with a mystical music box that promises to grant her seven desires.

Despite being initially hesitant, Clare makes her first wish for the popular school bully to rot, which comes true the next day as the bully develops necrotizing fasciitis. After this occurrence, she decides to make more dreams - protecting wealth, love, and appeal in school. However, occasions quickly take a darker turn.

Curses Begin
Each of Clare's dreams features a heavy price-- an unanticipated death of somebody she knew, owing to a sentence engraved in Chinese on the box, "When the music ends, the blood cost is paid". Clare's fortune, appeal, and appeal end up costing the lives of her pet dog, her rich uncle, her best friend's cousin, and even one of her own friends.

Realization and Resolution
With the assistance of her classmate Ryan (Ki Hong Lee) who equates the box's engravings, Clare discovers the blood rate condition. Although frightened and guilt-ridden, Clare struggles with her greed and makes two more desires, causing more deaths, including that of her other friend and her father.

In a desperate effort to break the cycle, Clare wishes to go back to the day her daddy discovered the box, wanting to avoid all the events. Sadly, package techniques her and takes it as her seventh dream, declaring her life as the final blood cost, and the cycle continues as package awaits its next victim.

It borrows heavily from the principles of Eastern spirituality and karma, providing a chilling and tragic story of a girl merely preferring to improve her life - just to see it crumble around her as an outcome of an ancient curse.
