This quote by Laurence J. Peter is a pointer that people can not be required to think something they do not wish to. It is a caution versus attempting to encourage someone of something they are not open to. It suggests that if someone is not happy to accept an idea, no matter just how much evidence exists, they will not be encouraged. This is due to the fact that true conviction originates from within, and can not be required upon somebody. It is necessary to keep in mind that everybody has their own beliefs and viewpoints, and it is not our place to try and change them. We need to respect the beliefs of others, even if we do not agree with them.
