This quote by Patti Smith speaks to the idea that everybody has their own distinct struggles and problems to bear. While an artist might need to deal with the pressures of producing art and the expectations of their audience, the common resident has their own set of battles that many artists might never ever experience. This might include the stress of a job, financial worries, or the difficulty of balancing family and work life. It is very important to keep in mind that everyone has their own distinct set of obstacles and that nobody's battles are more or less important than another's. We need to strive to be understanding and supportive of each other, no matter our differences.
