Marcus Aurelius is recommending that death, like birth, is a natural occurrence that is shrouded in secret. Both occasions are inescapable and beyond human control. Just as we can not fully understand the miracle of birth, we can not fully comprehend the process of dying. Death is part of the natural cycle of life, and accepting this truth is an important part of living a fulfilling life.
"Art is not merely an imitation of the reality of nature, but in truth a metaphysical supplement to the reality of nature, placed alongside thereof for its conquest"
"Habit is a second nature that destroys the first. But what is nature? Why is habit not natural? I am very much afraid that nature itself is only a first habit, just as habit is a second nature"
