"Ideas pull the trigger, but instinct loads the gun"

This quote by Don Marquis recommends that ideas are the driving force behind our actions, however instinct is what sets us up for them. Concepts are the conscious decisions we make, the plans we devise, and the goals we set. They are the triggers that set our actions in motion. Impulse, on the other hand, is the subconscious part of us that prepares us for the concepts we have. It is the knowledge and experience we have actually gotten throughout our lives that assists us to make the right decisions and take the best actions. Impulse is what loads the weapon, so to speak, and prepares us for the ideas we have. Without impulse, our ideas would be absolutely nothing more than empty words. Instinct is what gives our ideas the power to become reality.
