In this quote, Natan Sharansky is stressing the value of distinguishing between totally free societies and fear societies. He argues that if we are not going to plainly specify and label these two types of societies, we will not be able to promote peace. According to Sharansky, peace and freedom are naturally connected, and one can not exist without the other. By refusing to acknowledge the distinction in between complimentary and fear societies, we are basically condoning the injustice and lack of freedom in fear societies. Sharansky believes that in order to genuinely accomplish peace, we should acknowledge and support free societies, while condemning and working against worry societies.
