Kelly Hu, an American actress, was born upon February 13, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She comes from a diverse background with her ancestry rooted in Chinese, Hawaiian, and English heritage. Her parents, Herbert Hu and Juanita Hu, raised Kelly and her sibling Glenn in their home town.

Kelly attended the Maʻemaʻe Elementary School and later on transferred to Kamehameha Schools throughout her teens. It was during this time that she found her passion for modeling and started competing in appeal pageants. In 1985, at the age of 16, Kelly won the regional Miss Hawaii Teen USA title, which eventually led her to compete in the nationwide Miss Teen USA pageant.

Designing Career
As an outcome of her success in the Miss Teen USA pageant, Kelly moved to Los Angeles and pursued a profession in modeling. Besides appearing in commercials, she graced the covers of a number of magazines and print ads. In 1993, she chose to take her modeling career an action even more, ending up being the first Asian-American to win the title of Miss Hawaii USA. She went on to complete in the Miss USA 1993 pageant but did not win the title.

Acting Career
